Funeral services for Bertis Carlene Ray of Jonesville,LA will be held at Jonesville First Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 2PM with Bro. Don Hawkins and Bro. Ralph Webber officiating. Interment will follow at Parhams Baptist Church Cemetery, Jonesville, LA, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Bertis Carlene Ray was born on Saturday, September 30, 1939 in Lake City, AR to the late Delbert Leon Ray and the late Lottie Irene Ray of Holcomb, MO and departed this life on September 23, 2018 at the age of 78. Bertis married Brenda Cannon Ray on March 27, 1964 and fathered three children: Sons Bryan and Burt Ray and daughter Leah Humphries He was Baptist by faith and was a retired farmer of 59 years. During his career as a "Ole Dirt Farmer" he served on numerous boards including FSA for 18 years, Planter Cotton Oil Mill for 6 years, La Ginners Association and was also Co-Owner in Concordia Farmers Gin. Bertis was preceded in death by his father Delbert Leon Ray, mother Lottie Irene Ray, Mother-in-law Lorene Cannon, Brother-in-law Bennie Cannon, nephews Dennis and Kevin Ray and Niece Sue Ellen Cannon. Bertis was survived by wife Brenda Cannon Ray of 54 years, Son Bryan Ray and Jennifer Girlinghouse, son Burt Ray and his wife Gail , daughter Leah Humphries and her husband Donnie, grandchildren Burton Ray, Jake Ray and his wife Taylor, Matthew Humphries, Brena Dee Ray, Alex Humphries, Noah Ray, Zachary Girlinghouse and Alyson Girlinghouse all of Jonesville, LA He is also survived by brother Cloyce Ray of Kennett, MO, brother Willis Ray and his wife Elaine of Olive Branch, MS, sister Anita Nall and her husband Ron of Cape Girardeau, MO, brother-in-law David Cannon and his wife Brenda , sister-in-law Jody Poole and her husband Jerry all of Kennett, MO and sister-in-law Alice Pedigo and her husband Bill of Holcomb, MO along with many other relatives and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Burton Ray, Jake Ray, Matthew Humphries, Alex Humphries, Noah Ray and Ross McCaughey Honorary Pallbearers will be AJ Vanglider, Rodney Hutchins, David Roundtree, Roger Carter, Johnny Carrol, Maurice Linam, Jimmy Poole, Pat McCaughey, Jake Branch, Joey Williams, Henry "Buddy Red" Jones, Harvey Ray White, J.C.
