Aplin, 94 of Harrisonburg,LA will be held at Harrisonburg First Baptist Church on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Bro. Ralph Webber and Bro. Josh Adams officiating. Internment will follow at Harrisonburg Cemetery, Harrisonburg, LA, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home - Jonesville. Grace S. Aplin, longtime resident of Harrisonburg, LA, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at her home. She was born on Friday, May 9, 1924 In Cotton Valley, LA to Joe Sanson and Frozine Trisler Sanson. On June 16, 1946 she married Marvin Aplin of Harrisonburg, LA. She attended Natchitoches Normal College where she received her degree in eduacation. For 35 years she taught in Catahoula parish schools where she was a positive influence, providing students with encouraging words and kindness. Yearly, she instilled in young minds the importance of Patriotism, History, the Great Depression and World War II. She also shared her love of birds and guided many students through the process of researching, studying and writing about God's "feathered friends". During her teaching career and retirement years she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of Harrisonburg First Baptist Church and was the Oldest Member. She taught many years of Sunday School classes, ranging from children to her peers in the Fidelis Class. She was always active and encouraging others to focus on mission work and supporting those in the mission field. She is survived by her son, Marcus Aplin and his wife Janis, daughter, Mary Mobley and her husband Alan; two grandchildren, Melissa and her husband Marco Molina and Brian Mobley and his wife Katie; great granddaughter, Grace Molina; brother, Ellis Sanson and his wife Ann; sister Joann Russell and her husband Joey; sister-in-law, Inez Sanson She is preceded in death by her husband Marvin Aplin, parents, Joe and Fronzine Sanson; step-mother, Avie Chevallier Sanson; brothers, Joe Louis Sanson, Luther Sanson, Aubrey and Ila Sanson, Carl and Ann Sanson, Merl and Pauline Sanson, sisters, Susie Sanson and Janie and Leroy Morris; grandparents, Joe and Jenny Trisler, Louis and Emma Sanson. Pallbearers will be Joey Russell, Ellis Sanson, Alfred Lloyd Gemar, David Morris, Greg Terry, Kerry Kirby, Dean Cannaday, and David Mitchell. The family will receive friends at Harrisonburg First Baptist Church from 5:00 PM til 8:00 PM, Saturday, October 20, 2018 and from Noon til service time on Sunday, October 21, 2018.
